For more than 75 years, the Sleepy Hollow Fire Protection District has worked to protect residents, homes, and the natural environment through fire protection services, emergency preparedness, wildfire resilience programs, and regional collaboration.
The Sleepy Hollow Fire Protection District (SHFPD) is an independent California special district created by local residents in 1949 to improve fire protection and public safety services for the Sleepy Hollow community.
Today, SHFPD works closely with regional fire, medical, and wildfire prevention partners while advocating for the unique needs of Sleepy Hollow residents. Through strategic partnerships, community programs, and long-term planning, the District helps strengthen public safety and resilience throughout the Ross Valley.
The mission of the Sleepy Hollow Fire Protection District is to safeguard our community through the delivery of professional, efficient, and effective services protecting life, property, and the environment.
SHFPD supports a wide range of public safety and wildfire resilience initiatives, including:
Our work extends beyond emergency response to help residents prepare for and reduce the risks posed by wildfire and other emergencies.
Protecting Sleepy Hollow requires collaboration.
SHFPD partners with organizations throughout Marin County, including Ross Valley Fire Department, Ross Valley Paramedic Authority, Marin County Fire Department, Fire Safe Marin, Marin Wildfire Prevention Authority, local schools, community organizations, major landowners, and neighboring jurisdictions.
These partnerships allow us to leverage regional expertise and resources while maintaining a strong focus on the needs of our local community.
Founded in 1949, SHFPD was created by residents seeking reliable fire protection for a growing and geographically unique community.
Over the decades, the District has evolved from a small special district focused primarily on fire protection into a regional leader in wildfire preparedness, community resilience, and collaborative public safety solutions. Today, SHFPD continues to build on that legacy while preparing for the challenges of the future.
