Demonstration Gardens

The SHFPD funded the creation of the demonstration garden at the Sleepy Hollow Home Owers Association.   The garden design was created before the potential changes to State and Local regulations regarding what plantings are allowed adjacent to the structure.  However, the plant choices and placement generally reflect good practice for wildfire safety.   The attractive plants have small signs which identify the species to help homeowners with plant selection.,   Larger signs placed throughout the grounds including the large summary sign on the snack shack building help illustrate the basic principles of fire smart landscaping.

The SHFPD is working with the town of San Anselmo to create a new state of the art fire smart demonstration garden in front of Fire Station 20 on Butterfield Road.   The project is expected to be completed in the early Fall of 2026.
