The Sleepy Hollow Fire Protection District is happy to provide numurous programs to help protect against wildfire threats and live in a community with fire risk.

These programs include:

  • Firewise Community program -- Firewise Communities may receive specific benefits, such as discounts on homeowners insurance for residents, and access to grant funding opportunities for future hazard reduction projects
  • Block Captains -- The primary objective of a neighborhood response program (called Block Captains) is to do the greatest good for the greatest number of people, and ensure assistance is available to those who need it most
  • Satellite Phones -- SHFPD has purchased 30 satellite phones to improve communications during power safety shutoffs. These phones will be strategically placed throughout Sleepy Hollow in the care of block captains
  • Chipper Days -- Register to get you died and dry vegetation picked up on the scheduled chipper days in Sleepy Hollow
  • Goat Grazing -- to help with fire harazard reduction in the hills 
  • Emergency Center -- To improve emergency preparedness in Sleepy Hollow, and include a community emergency center incorporating disaster preparedness and relief functions into the planned community center, as well as business space for the Fire Protection District
  • Sandbag Station -- Located at the Community Center Bags and sand are available on a first-come, first-served basis. During major storms, limited staffing may be present on a part-time basis at the Community Center to assist residents with filling sandbags.
  • Fire Truck -- SHFPD has obtained a fire truck!
